About ten years ago we were commissioned by the BBC to make some crackers for the Christmas special of The Victorian Bakers series and with the interest that followed it soon became one of our signature crackers.

We have made a few changes over the years, the original had no metallic foil darts as these weren’t introduced until the 1920’s but ultimately (because we already have a very popular Victorian Christmas Cracker) we wanted to create something that was more in-line with the post-war crackers of the 1940’s through to the 1960’s.  A Christmas Cracker that conjured up a feeling of instant nostalgia. 

They take two days to make and this year for that ultimate touch of luxury we have introduced a decorative lining.

Whilst this is a modern take on crackers from the past, all the central paper scraps are rare and totally genuine and can date back to the 1920’s up to the late 1950’s.  For this reason each box is unique and will almost certainly vary from the online photographs. Some scraps may also show signs of aging.

Each of your six crackers comes with a luxury gift from the selection of gifts shown, a joke with riddle or trivia, a good quality paper hat (in six different colours) and of course a snap.

Although the mischievous elves that make your crackers are always misbehaving they are also very kind and thoughtful, which is why in one or two of your crackers you will find some extra surprises. They will also include a spare hat just in case of mishaps.
